That some games are hyped up so much to be amazing and revolutionary, and then when you actually get them, they’re a complete let down?
I was discussing Spore the other day with my friend (because he has a Mac and it’s one of the few games that will run on it :3), and that is a prime example of this. All of the previews and stuff basically said it was going to change the gaming industry and such, and whilst it was fun for the first time round, once you got to Space, it became really monotonous and repetitive.
“The chief failing of Spore is that it’s trying to be five games, each one a shallow and cut down equivalent of another game, with the Civilisation stage even going so far as to be named after the game it’s bastardizing.” – Yahtzee.

Yes, it steals from all 5 games at some point.
That pretty much sums it up (oh and all the problems with EA being bastards, as per usual, by not telling anyone about SecuROM…).
How to solve this problem? Declare every game to be shit or something along those lines, before it’s released, then when it is, and it’s discovered to not be shit, everybody will love it more! Win-Win situation!
